Copy-editing is the final step in making your document perfect. My job is to remove those errors that no one else has noticed, such as those missing full-stops or dangling modifiers that your other, content-focussed readers won’t have noticed. My service includes a thorough edit of all your text (or only parts of it, as you need) for such things as punctuation, grammar, tone, structure, style, references/in-text citations, and consistency of ideas/terms, etc.—I check everything. I’ll check your figure captions are complete; and I’ll even improve your table formatting.

I prefer to work with you rather than just "do it all and send it back”, and this means a daily return of your document (frequency negotiable) for your interaction with and confirmation of any changes I suggest. A lot of people are professional writers and don't know it. Do you compile a school or other newsletter every week? Write blurbs for real estate sales? What about letters to other practitioners, to the court, or to clients or parents? This service is for "findng typos" you haven't got time to notice as you scan for content accuracy. I can look over documents or websites for both grammar, punctuation, and style items so that your work product is the best it can be. All kinds of style conversions for manuscripts moving between journal submissions, specialising in APA 6 and 7. This service includes document compliance with any specified journal style guidelines (headings, tables, etc.). Price on application.

Sometimes a paper bounces back from one journal after another. It can be frustrating, and it may not mean you epistemic contribution is invalid. It can, however, mean you need an unbiased opinion. I offer a critical reading service where I assess (a) the logic of your argument, (b) your writing style, and (c) the coherence of the text as a whole, all in conjunction with your concerns about the paper and/or any remarks from reviewers.

This service is about helping you in ways that don’t come under the other headings. Some examples:

HDR students, your journey is a marathon, and sometimes you can get worn out. You might want someone to talk to about your research that can enthuse and give you feedback on some aspect that’s getting you stuck so that you’re procrastinating. You might want unbiased help with a stubborn idea that won’t fit into your structure, or a section of a literature review that’s turned into a Dollar Dazzler warehouse for too many ideas. I’m always curious about new research and I love hearing what people are doing, what ideas they’re using to shape their methodology, what ultimate goals they have for their research work. Because I’m so curious, the first hour of editing/chat is free. If you need something after that, we’ll agree on the price and go from there.
